New MC Story: "A Crowning Achievement"

Lydia Moody

Hold on to your teeth y'all! A new story is coming your way as part of a very exciting special edition of The Midnight Collection. This time, we all worked together to give our stories a common lore, so each story has some thread connecting it to all the others. The seed of our shared lore is a mysterious manuscript by the artist Devries, who could be one person or an entire cult. No one knows for sure, but strange transformations seem to keep occurring around those unlucky enough to come into contact with this artwork. It's been fun coming up with a story that both stands on it's own and is also enriched by the wonderful work imagined by the other authors.

My contribution, "A Crowning Achievement," is about Dan, a conspiracy theorist and artist who carves tiny sculptures from teeth. He made his home a safe haven from the dangers of the modern world, but when he encounters a strange, sick bird with teeth in its beak, exposure to 5G frequency waves is the last thing he should be worried about.

As is quickly becoming tradition- I have made art for this story as well. I thought it would be a nice treat to share it with you here. I drew it digitally on my tablet, using free software called Sketchbook. All of that cross-hatching and dot making was tough for an impatient person like myself, but I think it paid off.

The Midnight Collection vol. 4: Metamorphic Sacrament will be available sometime in the next few months, so stay tuned for further announcements on that. I'll make an Instagram post which will appear at the bottom of my home page. Or you can follow the collection at themidnightcollection.wordpress.com as well. There are three previous volumes that I highly recommend checking out if you enjoy horror stories. I mean, if you don't, what are you doing here? :P

I can imagine that crosshatching and dot making was really trying, but the end result was worth it; it looks great!
